Medela Freestyle Breast Pump : Medela Freestyle Parts Review

Assalamualaikum mommies,

What is the menu for today's lunch? I haven't think of any menu yet. I  Don't know what to cook for lunch so let's googling new recipi to be tried out. Before we continue cooking, how about we meet with this brand new Medela Freestyle Siblings. So, to all Medela freestyle fans, this is some reviews on parts of Medela Freestyle. Do enjoy reading till the end =)

1. This is Compact Pump which is the motor of Medela Freestyle . To control the level of suctions, you only have to press the button - or +. Since Medela freestyle has 2-Phase Expression Technology, it mimic the way baby sucks mother's breasts. When pumping, you can go back to the stimulation stage by pressing the let down button (the drop milk button). The motor also has memory, so to mark the comfartable level of stimulation and expression phase just press the memory button for 3 seconds.

2. This is Breastshield Spare Part that consists of Connector Body, Membrane, dan Back Cap. Double Pump Breastshield spare part have to be attached with the tubing at the back of the Back Cap. Note that after cleaning the pump, make sure the hole for tubing at the back cap is dry to avoid water entering the tubing when you are expressing milk.

3.This Transparent Tubing should be connected to Compact Pump dan Breastshield spare part at different ends.

4. As you already known, the new packaging of Medela Freestyles provides 2 pairs of PersonalFit Breastshileds instead of SoftFit Breastshields. The best thing is these two pairs have different size to accomodate different mothers' breast size. So, the PersonalFit Breastshields come in size M (24mm) and size L (27mm).

5. For this set, you will get 4 BPA-free Breastmilk Bottle with lids, one Slow Flow Wide Base Nipple and Travelling Cap for feeding or storage. So it really good to get these 4 bottle as you can save up for 4 bottles. :)



6. The above picture is Contoured Ice Pack which can last up to 12 hours. So, the Contoured Ice Pack might be still cold when you reach home from work. This kind of gel ice pack will ensure no leaking as the outer cover of the ice pack is made by hard plastic. =) 

7. Not forgetting you will also get Contoured Ice Pack along with this Removable Cooler Bag. So, you dont have to buy new one unless you want to fill in with more than 4 breastmilk bottles since this cooler bag can only carry 4 Breastmilk Bottle together with Contoured Ice Pack at a time.

8. Why Medela Freestyle? Because it has a superb Handsfree Equipment to ease your pumping session when you are busy doing other things. The handsfree equipment includes Hands-free Kit handsfree straps that have top and bottom straps. It is clipped to the bra, Therefore to secure the hansfree  straps top and bottom, you will need Bra Adapters Hook and Eyes as well as Bra Adapters Universal.

9. Support Belt and Extension are used with handsfree Kit. It is adjustable waist belt to clip freestyle into for mobility. 

10. The left picture is a Power Cord or Charger which has 240 volt and it is suitable to be used in Malaysia. The right picture is a Rechargeable Lithium -ion Battery which can lasts up to 3 hours. So, you are able to express milk at the office three times and each session only takes 15 minutes to finish. So you can recharge the baterry on weekend. And also you can use charger battery when you are driving if you do not have any car adapter.

11. In this new set you will also get Storage Labelling Lids to track and label EBM.  It has track-and-lock lids in order to mark days of the week, expression time frame, am pm or midday.

2-Phase Expression Technology in Medela Breast Pumps

Salam Mommies,

Do you know that Medela Freestyle has 2-Phase Expression Technology? So, what is 2-Phase Expression Technology?? Can anyone tell mommy what is that? If you can get the right answer mommy will give you a big colourful round candy. =P

Okay then, let's talk about this so called 2-Phase Expression Technology. Most Breast Pumps from Medela such as Medela Freestyle, Medela Harmony, Medela Swing and Pump In Style (PISA) are using 2-Phase Expression Technlogy except Medela Mini Electric. This 2-Phase Expression technology is about stimulation dan expression which is mimicing the baby suction at the breasts. I am sure all the breastfeeding moms know how your baby sucks your breasts and for those who haven't experience this let's continue reading this. =)

When a baby is latching on the breast, the baby will at first suck the breast in a fast pace or rythm. After a few fast suctions, then moms will feel the reflex down which means that a lot of milk is flowing down from the breast to Areola. At this time, the baby only sucks the breast in a slow pace or rythm in order to fully suck the milk in the deep suction. When the mother hears the baby swallows the milk, it shows that the baby is getting a lot of milk.

With this 2-Phase Expression technology, the pump will start with the stimulation phase in the fast pace or rythm within the first 2 minutes. Afterthat, it changes to expression phase where the pump expresses the milk in a slow pace or rythm. To control the level of stimulation and expression in order to get required comfort, you can press button - and +. When you are at the expression phase you can go back to the stimulation phase by pressing the let down button (the drop milk button) for 3 seconds. Hope everyone will understand with my explanation about 2-Phase Expression Technology. Sorry for any unclear massage written but you don't kave to worry as you can always check for more detail in Medela Website.  =)

Medela Softfit Breastshields VS Medela Personalfit Breastshields

Assalamualaikum mommies,

Hurm, baru-baru nih ada seorang customer tanya pasal packaging baru medela freestyle yang tiada softfit katanya. Mommy pun mula-mula salah faham pasal packaging yang baru ini sebab mommy ingatkan packing baru medela freestyle dibekalkan 2 set softfit breastshields. Rupa-rupanya memang tak ada pon ditulis diluar box medela freestyle pasal softfit. 2 pasang breastshields yang dibekalkan adalah jenis personalfit. Then, mommy tanyalah mr google.. menurut sumber yang mommy baca secara online katanya medela inc tak keluarkan lagi softfit untuk di setkan di dalam pakaging medela freestyle. Tak tau lah sahih atau tidak berita ini, tapi kalau benar pon memang terbukti sebab packaging baru medela freestyle sudah tidak ada softfit. Mommy guna packaging lama so memang dibekalkan dengan sepasang softfit saje lah.

Costumer yang tanya mommy tu sebenarnya pernah guna softfit untuk medela swing, jadi dia rasa pelik la sebab medela freestyle sudah tak ada soft fit. katanya dia memang suka dan lebih selesa guna soft fit berbanding personalfit sebab katanya personalfit lebih keras berbanding softfit. Mommy nak komen pon tak boleh sebab mommy tak penah guna lagi personal fit. Jadi mommy tanya mr google sekali lagi. Menurut ruangan forum  dan komen-komen ibu yang penah guna personal fit, sesetengah kata tak best kerana kurang flexible mcm softfit, tapi sesetengah ibu-ibu pula kata personal fit bagus sebab boleh disesuaikan dengan size nipple dan tak rasa plak kekerasannya. Jadi mommy simpulkan, ibu-ibu kat luar sana kena cuba guna dua-dua softfit or personal fit dan tengak yang mane ibu-ibu suka. Tak semua mempunyai citarasa yang sama. betul x? =)

Mommy pon berkira-kira gak nak beli personal fit sebab nak rasa apa yang orang lain rasa bila guna personal fit. Jadi nanti boleh la letak review kat sini untuk panduan mommies sekalian. heee.. =)

Packaging Baru Medela Freestyle 2012

Hari ni Mommy nak share sket pasal medela freestyle yang datang dengan packaging yang baru mulai Oktober 2011. Dalam packaging baru  nie ada extra BREAST SHIELD size M & L. Yang lama cuma ada sepasang saja breast shield (yang mommy sendiri pon taktau size apa). Jadi packaging baru nih lebih mesra pengguna sebab pengguna boleh pilih nak guna breast shield yang bersesuian dengan nipple masing - masing. Penting tau guna breast shield yang sesuai supaya nanti dapat susu meriah sket.hehe..

Medela VS Avent

Assalamualaikum semua,

Mommy nak tanya ibu-ibu menyusu kat luar sana camna ibu-ibu pilih breastpump yang sesuai? Adakah based on brands, performances or prices? Kalau based on brand mommy rasa Medela or Avent yang paling popular dalam dunia breastfeeding mommies kan kan? Kalau based on performances which one is better? Medela or Avent? Selagi tak guna takkan tau. Betol x? And one more thing kalau nak compare betol-betol kena guna dua2 brands sekalilah.hiii.. Jenuh plak nak menabungkan.hihu.. Lastly kalau based on prices, both brands have almost the same price depending on their features right?

Jadi yang mana pilihan ibu-ibu or bakal-bakal ibu kat luar sana??!

Mommy dulu masa pregnant memang sampai rambang mata buat research online on every breastpump. Baca review sana sini, baca forum sana sini, baca komen sana sini, semuanya pasal breastpump yang bagus. Apa yang mommy dapat simpulkan it's all about your PREFERENCES atau minat kita. Before pregnant mommy memang dok berkenan dengan Avent breastpump Avent Electric Double Pump or  Avent IQ ISIS Duo Breastpup , mmg jadi top of the list dalam list 'Things to buy before delivering baby', then alih-alih berkenan plak kat medela breastpump because jatuh cinta kat Medela Freestyle punya handsfree equipment. Kononnya untuk memudahkan proses mengepam susu walaupon sibuk dengan kerja lain. Akhirnya beli juga Medela Freestyle walaupon dalam hati still tertanya-tanya macamana keadaannya kalau guna Avent Double Pump.

Walau pon  mommy tak dapat nak guna Avent Double Pump merasa juga Mommy merasa Avent Manual Breastpump (tu pon nasib baik taukey sponsor, merasa jugak mommy =P). But both pumps have different capabilities so kalau nak compare macam tak adil. Macam kita compare burung pipit dengan burung enggan.hehe..

Kadang-kadang mommy mati kutu bila ada ibu-ibu or bakal-bakal ibu especially tanya breastpump mana yang bagus. Medela atau Avent.?Mommy pon taktau nak respon macamana. Bagi pendapat mommy, again it's all about your preferences. Breastpump yang dicari tu mesti memenuhi ciri 3K nih.

Kadang-kadang ibu-ibu berkerjaya yang busy bekerja mesti nak pump yang portable (mudah di bawa ke sana sini), jimatkan masa (contohnya, pump 15 minit pon dah dapat 10oz). Berlainan pula dengan ibu yang tidak bekerja, mungkin kerana anak dapat direct feeding selalu pump hanya diperlukan untuk sustain or maintain milk production. Bagi ibu yang selalu direct feeding pon memang digalakkan untuk pump untuk kosongkan breast supaya susu dapat dihasilkan dengan lebih banyak.

2... KEMAMPUAN
---> Kemampuan dari segi harga. Contohnya, beli pump yang mampu dimiliki, tapi mommy advise kepada bakal-bakal ibu, kalau betul-betul determine untuk exclusively breastfeed baby kena buat persediaan awal iaitu menabung.. jadi dapatlah pump yang diminati. Betul tak? =)

3... KEYAKINAN
---> Keyakinan pada pump yang dibeli dan yang ingin dibeli. Lepas dah buat research berbulan-bulan, kita kena yakin dengan breastpump pilihan kita dan yakin dengan keputusan kita untuk memberi yang terbaik kepada anak-anak kita. Betul tak? Kena layan pump baik-baik nanti pump pon taknak bekerja keras pam susu untuk kita.he he he =P

Mommy's back to school!!

Hi all,

Lamanya mommy peram entry nih. Takdan nak menulis. Baru je nak berjinak2 dengan blog tetiba dah kena masuk keje. Actually mommy dah masuk keje tiga minggu yang lalu. nak masuk keje lepas maternity leave punya la dugaan. so kali nih mommy nak cerite apa jadi masa kena masuk keje dgn keadaan terkejut tergempaq bak kata org kedah (byk blaja bhs kedah coz hubby org kedah.hihi..)

Before that, meh mommy intro diri dulu, mommy nih keje cikgu. jadi ade la kena mengena dgn tajuk entry kat atas tu. org pggl teacher ain coz mengajar English. tapi mommy opsyen BI pon. tapi mommy nih takde la sefemes cikgu shida walaupon mommy nih tecer. Tak reti nak miming2 lagu cam tecer shida.ngeee~ ok stop merapu!

Masa cuti bersalin harituh, to be exact masa cuti skolah bulan 6 arituh punya la lepak-lepak hidup mcm fulltime housewife n fulltime mommy. tetiba je kerani skol tepon suh masuk keje. Memang terkejut tergempaq la mommy n hubby coz ktorg ingat ke mommy cuti tiga bulan. kalu kena masuk skol pas cuti skolah kiranya mommy punya cuti bersalin cuma dua bulan. Call la GB PK1 n kerani2 nak comfirm kan pasal cuti mommy. tapi nasib tak menyebelahi mommy sbb ada miscommunication pasal cuti mommy. Takpela mommy redha je la sbb sedikit sebanyak salah mommy jugak sbb tak follow up dengan skol masa pas bersalin arituh. mati2 ingat skol proses cuti mommy 3 bulan. So the GB said, by hook or by crook I have to g back to school after the school break.hihu.. Tapi mommy rasa tak seronok utk memulakan keje dgn keadaan terkejut macam tuh sbb banyak benda tak setel...

First....
Oleh sebab mommy lepak-lepak sebab ingatkan cuti tiga bulan menyebabkan mommy tak cari lagi pengasuh untuk Aushaf Iman. Plan nak cari pengasuh sebulan sebelum start keje balik, tapi disebabkan kena panggil keje awal, pengasuh entah kemana. Tuhan sajalah yang tau betapa risaunya hati ini nak tinggalkan anak tanpa pengasuh. Terkalutkalut cari pengasuh dalam masa tiga hari. Nursery yang dekat dgn rumah dah penuh. Orang-orang yang mengasuh dekat2 rumah pon dah cukup kuata. Tapi alhamdulillah, Allah permudahkan juga urusan. Kebetulan adik mommy yang belajar staffnurse tengah cuti semesta, so mommy minta dia datang perlis mengasuh anak sedara die. Lama tak lama dua minggu juga die mengasuh sebelum mommy jumpa pengasuh yang skarang nih.heee..

Second...
Oleh sebab mommy lepak-lepak sebab ingatkan cuti tiga bulan menyebabkan mommy tak sempat nak stock up EBM untuk Aushaf Iman. Plan nak start stock up EBM sebulan sebelum masuk keje. So, mommy punyalah risau takut tak sempat nak buat stok EBM utk ditinggalkan masa mommy g skol. Tapi alhamdulillah, minggu pertama mommy g skol mommy berjaya buat stok EBM sebanyak 30 botol. Setiap hari mommy pump susu tiga kali, lepas balik skolah, sebelum tido n bangun dari tido. Yang bestnye mommy berjaya perah susu sebanyak 15 oz dalam masuk 15 minut setiap hari selepas balik skolah. Tu pon sebab mommy guna MEDELA FREESTYLE. Dalam masa pantang arituh mommy guna pureen sbb nak guna urgent coz breast membengkak, hasilnya tak berapa banyak pastu sakit plak.huhu..Then nak masuk keje arituh insist jugak kat hubby nak pakai Medela Freestyle. Alhamdulillah, pelaburan mmg berbaloi sebab dapat susu banyak dalam masa yang sekejap dengan bantuan double pumping. Dan yang penting tak menyakitkan dan dapat hasil susu yang banyak. Memang tak menyesallah.hii..

Oleh sebab mommy lepak-lepak sebab ingatkan cuti tiga bulan menyebabkan mommy tak puas lagi cuti lama-lama jaga baby kat rumah. Hehehe.. Tapi serius, mommy memang tak bersedia nak balik berkerja semula. Rasa tak sampai hati nak tinggalkan baby walaupon sekejap.huhu..

Ok, sampai sini dulu entry untuk kali ini. mommy akan cuba menulis dan menulis. Hanya masa akan menentukan (dapat menulis nih pon sebab si Aushaf Iman tidur dari tadi lg.). Adios!!
